    Speech

A very good afternoon to our distinguished guests from Singapore, Principal of BiTC, directors, teachers, friends and fellow students.

It gives me a pleasure to be here this afternoon. My name is Grace and I’m the  President of BiTC China-Singapore Cultural Exchange Club.  I’m currently a Year 3 student from School of Information Technology specialised in Computer Science.

We are glad to have this opportunity to work with Singapore Students on projects while they immersed in our local cultural and environment. In November 2006, under the witnessed of Singapore Minister for Educataion & Second Minister for Finance, Mr Tharman for the signing of an MOU between NYP and BiTC to setup a Centre for NYP students in Beijing. And our China-Singapore Cultural Exchange Club is a club established in 30 March 2007 when the first batch arrived.

Now let me share my experience with all of you. We have organised events together with Singapore Friends such as Christmas Celebrations, Stage Performances, some Sports competitions, Birthday Celebrations, etc. at the same time we are able to exchange our cultures differences.

We also have a small corner in the Cultural Exchange Club Room, there are two walls which were decorated by students from BiTC and NYP respectively. Each wall represents their own cultural.

On one of the wall, you will able to see Singapore, a dynamic city rich in contrast and colour with a harmonious blend of culture, cuisine, arts and architecture. This little dynamo in Southeast Asia which embodies the finest of both East and West.

On the other side, you will able to see China, a vast country with  a long and potent history, a future looming large and a rich and profound culture.

This club really brings us a lot of beneficials for all the students from BiTC and NYP. Ever since the club was established, the BiTC students have improved a lot in the English Language and NYP students have also improved a lot in Chinese Mandarin Language. Not only improvement on the language but also have a better understanding of different countries’ background.

I could say that time really flies very fast. From the 1st Batch till the 6th Batch, 1 and a half year have passed, and about 240 students had come and went back to Singapore. But their laughters will always remain in my memory. The moments that we had together will forever be with me.

Friends will never be apart, maybe in distance, but never in heart.

I would like to thank everyone for giving me this opportunity today to share these experiences with you. Let me therefore wish everyone all the best in the future endeavors. Thank you.
